The House System

The House System

At Spring Lane Primary school we operate a House System. All the children from Reception to Year 6 are allocated a House and they will spend their time at school in that House. Siblings are always placed in the same House. The Houses provide the children with an affiliation beyond their class and year group and help them to develop their sense of identity, pride, loyalty and teamwork.

Every week, in our Celebration Assembly, we acknowledge the House with the most House Points for that week. At the end of the term, the winning House will receive a prize of the children's choosing.

Children can earn House Points for their Houses by working hard in class, producing really good quality work, being polite and courteous, helping each other and by setting a good example. There are regular House Meetings where the children are encouraged to work hard for their Houses and to do the best they can to earn as many House Points as possible.

As well as the academic side of school life, children also represent their Houses in Sports Day and other sporting/competitive events throughout the year. The Houses each have 2 House Captains who, along with the staff in that House, will run the House Meetings and organise their Houses when appropriate.
